Did you know that "Character Days" are often celebrated in September and October?
Come and meet the six characters in The Bakery Shop book by author Patricia Dunfey Hoyt and add these new characters to your dress up list.
Come meet the diverse group of children from the story called, The Bakery Shop by author Patricia Hoyt. The characters names were inspired by a childcare center that Patricia directed. Two of the characters are the names of her children; Tatyana and Gordon and the other children's names are their friends Stacy, Luke, Josh and Gabrielle. In this wonderful interactive story, children have the opportunity to use the paper character puppets to act out the story and create their own retellings of the story by following the words in the book, or by using their imaginations and creating their own version of the story. Special stitched pages have been added to the back of the book where the character puppets are located; so that these pages can easily be removed from the book without harming the rest of the pages. By acting out the story with the character puppets children step into the shoes of the characters and have the experience to play, move, and sing their part in the story. Children develop many skills through story-time interactive play. Such as reading, speaking, and communication skills. As well as, sharing, taking turns, and fine and gross motor skills. Great educational skills to learn!
Next time it is "Character Day" in your community or school, don't forget about the characters in The Bakery Shop Story by PD Hoyt.
